Vagabond Cabaret

30 07 2008

Vocals: Mr Matthew Mayhem
Bass N’ Vocals: Joe Truck
Guitar: Ricky Reckless
Lead Guitar: G#Sharp
Drums: David Harvey

As a GN’R fan, I have always wondered what it would be like if they didn’t have their break thru after Appetite for Destruction and kept playing gritty, sleazy Rock N Roll. How the album after that Appetite would sound like. And I think a lot of you guys have wondered that very thing at least one time. Wel.. I have got the answer. I think the album that comes very close to sounding like an “Appetite For Destruction II” is “Vagabond Cabaret” by Confederacy of Horsepower.

Fuck! This album rocks even my pants off of my arse. It starts with the National Anthem of the USA which gets interrupted by a great guitar riff which kills the anthem like a grizzly bear would schredding a little pink bunny. Beautiful! From that moment on it just feels like you’re on a rollercoaster on the loose, there’s no stopping unless you die because of the fast n’ heavy guitar licks, riffs and ace solo’s. And now I didn’t even mention the raw vocals by Mr. Matthew Mayhem, that guy sounds like the bastard child of Lemmy Kilmister and Axl Rose. I truly am in love with this band.

Oh and did I mention Dizzy Reed (Gn’r Keyboardplayer) plays on the album as well?

This album ain’t leaving my cdplayer for a long time!

Blame it on/Thank the Internet..

7 07 2008

bad pc

I just read Saints of Los Angeles has sold about 99,000 copies in its first week of release. And that got me wondering.. would they have sold more albums if the internet wasn’t here here yet, or as big as it is at the moment.

Let’s say S.O.L.A. was released in a time and place where internet does not excist!
*Whoa! Shocker!*
Would the album have sold 99,000 copies, or more/less? Allthough a lot of people say the album would have sold more without internet, because people wouldn’t be able to download it, I think it would have sold less. Because I found out about the making of, and the release date and etc. of Saints of Los Angeles, thanks to the internet. I live in Holland and I have to admit, Holland wouldn’t give a shit about Mötley Crüe or other hardrock bands anymore.

So I just kept on thinking.. if there was no internet where I can find news about bands and their new albums and stuff.. How the fuck would I ever know anything about it? You see? I wouldn’t have bought the album because I wouldn’t know it excisted.. And I wouldn’t know about a lot of bands I found on the internet. The internet opened my eyes(ears) when it comes to music. Before we had internet at home, all the music I would know about was the populair music, the hiphop and shit like that.

Thanks to the internet I found out about cool (old) bands like Guns N’ Roses, Motörhead, AC/DC, Nirvana, Mötley Crüe and many more. I already knew I liked the loud and hard music because some radio stations still play a little GNR, AC/DC and ofcourse Aerosmith. But I wouldn’t know who it was I was listening to! I liked it, but I didn’t know who that was, or what the song was called. I just remembered the terms I heard, like hard rock, heavy metal, metal, classic rock and whatever label they put on it. Then we got internet, and I just started Googeling the terms and downloading a lot of music from the bands that were labeled like that… and that’s how I think the internet only helps selling albums instead of decreasing it.

For the people I just pissed off in this story because I said I just started downloading a lot of music, I have bought albums of almost all the bands I have downloaded from (check out the “Collexion” page for my.. well.. collection..) , or have a shirt or other merchandising.

Too Drunk To Buck

4 07 2008

buckcherry bw

http://buckcherry.com allows us to download a song from the upcoming album “Black Butterfly”. The website said the songtitle is “Too Drunk…”, though on various blogs, forums and etc the song is called “Too Drunk To Fuck”. And that pissed off many Dead Kennedys fans. But hell.. As if every band/artist has to have original song titles, that would be kinda impossible..

Back to the song. I think it sounds pretty cool, it’s a very Buckcherryish song so what else could you expect right? The guitar riff in the verses sounds very funky and kind of reminds me of the intro of “Mellowship Slinky in B Major” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Josh sounds like the good-ol’ Josh.. I think the best way to describe this songs is “a mix between Mellowship Slinky in B Major and Next 2 You”. I like it.

Though I’m just wondering.. I thought this band was pretty much sober but they’re still making songs about alcohol, gettin’ drunk and doing drugs…

Black Butterfly (new Buckcherry album this fall!!)

2 07 2008

So I was surfing the internet looking for news/bands and etc. When I thought.. “Hmm would there be any news about the new Buckcherry record?”. Then I went to http://buckcherry.com/ and I was happy to see that the band announced the new record, the followup of the mutli hit album “15″, will be out this fall! The album is probably gonna be called “Black Butterfly” because you can see what is the expectable artwork for the album.

black butterfly

Black Butterfly will be the fourth record by the band.
I am hoping for another classic Buckcherry record, like “Buckcherry” and “15″ mixed and blended to another masterpiece. Though I am thinking the record will sound more like “15″ the album cover has the same feel to it as the “Buckcherry” artwork.

So tell me! What are you expecting/hoping to hear with this new record?

I tell you folks.. 2008 is a good year for rock n’ roll..
